Scott attended lessons every Saturday afternoon for 3 years until John sadly died in 2000. After John died Scott began tuition with famous scottish accordionist Gordon Pattullo whom he continued tuition with for 12 years.

Scott started off playing in public when John Huband had sessions in the Commercial Inn, Newtyle.
